BANKRUPTCY

Mattes & Mattes, P.C. has the experience and technical knowledge to assist its clients in all phases of Bankruptcy. While other firms may be limited to simple Chapter 7 cases, we have experience in handling not only Chapter 7, (business and personal), but also Chapter 11 Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases. In addition, our firm has initiated numerous involuntary bankruptcies preventing intentional waste of estate assets by questionable business owners. Our members have also been appointed as Receivers for numerous distressed businesses and have been successful in guiding them out of their financial problems as well as representing Creditors’ Committees for a number of large businesses.

Our firm has represented individuals, small businesses, partnerships, non- profit organizations and corporations. Being well versed in both sides of Debtor/Creditor Law helps ensure that both creditors and debtors receive the finest representation available.

As Northeastern Pennsylvania ’s premier collection firm, Mattes & Mattes, P.C. usually has the inside scoop on local businesses and their financial affairs to assist creditors in contested bankruptcy matters. These include, but are not limited to, contesting dischargability of debt, relief from the automatic stay, foreclosures, contested priority claims and contested exemptions, in addition to disputes concerning ownership of property of the estate.

In October of 2005, the new Bankruptcy Reform Acts went into effect. Numerous, local firms ceased handling bankruptcy cases at the time due to their added complexities. We have continued to focus on our bankruptcy practice on behalf of both creditors and debtors alike.
